We're here to help.

Most questions have a quick answer below. If you don't see yours, send a note and we'll get back to you.

Why don't I hear anything when I tap the big button?
Make sure your AirPods or headphones are connected first — the app waits for headphones before it starts. The connection status appears at the top of the screen. If headphones are connected and you still hear nothing, check that the iPhone microphone is not blocked (case, finger, lap fabric) and that the volume isn't muted via the side switch.
How do I allow microphone access if I tapped "Don't Allow" by mistake?
Open the iPhone Settings app, scroll to Hearing Helper, and toggle Microphone on. The app will detect the change the next time you tap to listen.
I bought it on my old iPhone — how do I get it on my new one?
Open Hearing Helper on the new iPhone, go to Settings inside the app, and tap Restore Purchase. The unlock follows your Apple ID, so it transfers across devices and works with Family Sharing.
Does the app work without AirPods?
Yes. AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, Beats, and most other Bluetooth or wired headphones all work. The app needs any headphones — using the iPhone speaker would create a feedback loop, so the app won't start without them.
Is the audio recorded or uploaded somewhere?
No. Audio is processed live on the iPhone by Apple's audio framework and discarded the moment you stop. The app makes zero network requests beyond Apple's StoreKit. The full details are on the Privacy page.
Why does the trial timer keep counting?
The 3-minute trial counts only while you are actively listening. If listening pauses for any reason — headphones disconnect, an incoming call, or you tap stop — the timer pauses too.
Can it diagnose my hearing loss or replace a hearing aid?
No. Hearing Helper is a listening utility, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace hearing aids. If you have hearing concerns, please speak with a qualified hearing professional.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History, find Hearing Helper, and tap Report a Problem.
